2023 US Army Atlantic Resolve

During the months October and November the periode exchange of the European deployed US Army Brigade took place. This time the 1st Infantry Division “Big Red One” CAB would arrive in Europe and the 3rd Infantry Division CAB would return to CONUS. The arrival (49 helicopters) would once again be by Vlissingen harbor via Woensdrecht airbase. After the units cleared the harbor the exiting units (a total of 55 helicopters) were flown via Eindhoven airbase to Vlissingen – most of them using Woensdrecht airbase as navigation point. Both Combat Aviation Brigades (CAB) consisted of Blackhawks, Chinooks and Apaches. The 1st Infantry Division CAB would deploy to Poland, Latvia and Germany.

Arrival of the 1st Combat Aviation Brigade – “Demon” Brigade:

A part of the 1st CAB got stuck in very bad fall weather at Woensdrecht airbase. During a storm with strong gusts the remaining helo’s were tightly packed together and placed upon the Northern taxiways to shield them from the winds.
