At least 2 platoons (A platoon normally had between 4 and 5 panzers) of a Company of General Rommel’s 7^th Panzer Division.

The 7^th Panzer Division moved into Lens after the battle of Arras. During the battle of Arras the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) made a strong stand against the German troops – only to be broken by Rommels 88’s which destroyed the nearly invincible British Matilda’s. During the French campaign the 7^th Panzer Division earned its famous name ‘Gespenster Division’ (Ghost Division) – because it appeared everywhere without anyone knowing where it was (not even the German High Command!).

Note the camouflaged Zeltbahn tents behind the panzers. All panzers are practically unmarked; to block any enemy intelligence gathering.
